Hall, Elizabeth. 2010. A Phonology of Muak Sa-aak. Chiang Mai: Payap University MA thesis. (200pp.; Hall, Elizabeth. 2013. A phonological description of Muak Sa-aak. Mon Khmer Studies 42: 26-39. sesquisyllabic language, 22 consonants, 18 vowels, and three tones. "a low tone, a checked tone and a falling tone....In Muak Sa-aak, voice quality is not distinctive but is an accompanying feature of tone. This is most apparent in words with long vowels. Except for the falling Tone 3, these voice qualities are not produced onsistently and showed a high degree of both intra- and interspeaker variation." (hall 2010: 61)
