The idea of this discussion emerged during a working session of the Thot narrow team: to many people, the notion of a foot seemed not clear enough, as well as its relation with such notions as prosodic word or sequisillable, and also, its relevance for the understanding and description of the tonal system. Let us try to clarify this question.
